Healing With Benzoin Oil



Benzoin is obtained from the resin of the Styrax Benzoin tree, prized in the East for centuries as an incense to dispel evil spirits. The resin is dissolved in alcohol solvents to give the oil-which has energizing and rejuvenation effects on the mind, body & spirit-its rich, Vanilla-like aroma that combines well with spices or other tree oils.

Use Benzoin to instill confidence and feeling s of contentment. It is calming yet elevating, making it valuable in treating emotional exhaustion and anxiety. It warms the heart, improves circulation and is an effective tonic for the urinary tract, helping to combat infection. Benzoin is especially useful if combined with Rose or Lavender to treat skin conditions

Active Ingredients Of Benzoin Oil

Esters~Benzoin is extremely rich in Esters, such as Benzyl Benzoate. The Esters give Benzoin its rich, sweet ordor and warming properties. Esters have gentle therapeutic actions and are anti-inflammatory and anti fungal. They also contribute to Benzoin's ability to heal and soothe skin rashes.

Other Constituents~Benzoin oil also contains other active ingredients. These are Aldehydes, Acids and Oxides.

Using Your Benzoin Oil

        

A Comforting Resinoid (resinoids - are extracts from resins or plant parts except for the blossom)

Restoring Massage~Lift your negative emotions by adding together the following with a carrier oil ( like Sweet Almond or Grapeseed to mention a couple)

  8 drops Benzoin
• 
  
  8 drops Bergamot
• 
  
  4 drops Roman Chamomile oil

Massage the oil into your body to uplift and stimulate your mind and spirit

Anti-Anxiety Bath~Add the following oils to your bath water to create a bathing experience That will cleanse you of stress:

• 
  
  5 drops  Benzoin
• 
  
  5 drops Frankincense
• 
  
  5 drops Sandalwood

Positive Scents~When slipping into depression and confused by feelings of self-doubt and guilt, use these oils in a vaporizer:

• 
  
  5 drops Benzoin
• 
  
  5 drops Rose
• 
  
  5 drops Jasmine

Soothing Skin Care



Utilize Benzoin's gentle, soothing and anti-inflammatory action to help heal skin irritations.

Treating Chapped Skin:

• 
  
  3 drops Benzoin
• 
  
  3 drops Chamomile
• 
  
  3 drops Myrrh
• 
  
  2 tbsp Calendula Cream

To Relieve Eczema & Dermatitis:

• 
  
  2 drops Sandalwood
• 
  
  2 drops Benzoin

Add to a basin of warm water. Bathe the affected skin. Both oils have powerful astringent and anti-inflammatory actions.

For Soothing Relief From Chilblains ( an inflammation of the skin, accompanied by burning and itching)

• 
  
  3 drops Frankincense
• 
  
  3 drops Benzoin

Add to foot bath, these oils will stimulate the circulation and ease the painful swellings.



To Clear Infections

Throat Infection~At the first sign of a throat infection, make a dry inhalation by adding:

• 
  
  3 drops Benzoin
• 
  
  3 drops Juniper

Add to hanky and inhale throughout the day.

Painful Cystitis~add:

• 
  
  2 drops Benzoin
• 
  
  2 drops Lemon

Add to bathwater. Both oils have an antiseptic action on the urinary tract.

Stubborn Cough~Fight off a stubborn cough by adding:

• 
  
  1 drop Benzoin
• 
  
  1 drop Lemon
• 
  
  1 drop Cypress
• 
  
  1 tbsp Grapeseed

Massage into neck, throat and chest. The combined decongestant and anti-viral effects of these oils will ensure a restful sleep.
