Make Your Own Delicious Herbal Smoothies!

G'morning my wonderful readers!

Today I am going to share with you some wonderfully delicious, healthy herb and fruit smoothies!

So grab your blender and enjoy!

~Peace~

Fruit and Herb Smoothies

Blueberry Balm Smoothie (memory boost)~Studies have shown that anthocyanidin, a glucoside fount in blueberries that's responsible for the fruit's deep color, has a profound ability to improve memory. The compound acts as a message carrier to the brain's pathways and stimulates cell growth:

  • 1 pint blueberries, washed and frozen ( using frozen fruit in your recipes makes for a thick, chilled smoothie)
  • 1 handful lemon balm, chopped finely
  • 1 cup vanilla yogurt
  • 1 cup soy milk
Put all ingredients in blender and puree until liquid

Power Punch Smoothie (protein boost)~The peanut butter, soy and flax in this recipe all contain significant amounts of protein, while the honey offers a quick fix of energy. Try sugar-free peanut butter (or sub. almond butter) and organic soy milk for a delicious pre-workout treat. Since the banana is not frozen in this recipe, we will add ice:
  • 1 banana
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 cup soy milk
  • 1 tsp flax seeds
  • 6 ice cubes
Place all ingredients into blender except ice, and blend until smooth. Add ice and mix on high until slushy.

Island Smoothie (energy boost)~This tropical blend will have you feeling like you are on a Hawaiian adventure! This smoothie is loaded with Vitamins C and B6, magnesium, iron and thiamine. Pineapples provide a powerful source of energy. Perfect for kick-starting your day!

  • 2 cups frozen pineapple
  • 1 cup mango nectarr
  • 1 cup peach yogurt
  • 1 tbsp honey
Blend all ingredients except honey in blender until nearly blended. Add honey and finish the blending process

Eyebright Smoothie ( immunity boost )~If pumpkin is out of season, you can use canned pumpkin, canned and fresh offers equal nutrition. Adding the carrot juice doubles the amount of beta-carotene.
  • 1 cup canned pumpkin
  • 1 cup carrot juice
  • 1 cup frozen yogurt
  • 1 tbsp grated ginger root
Blend all on high until smooth.

Cleansing Smoothie (detox)~We are bombarded with toxins daily that often lead to illness. To detoxify your body, try this "spring cleaning" smoothie on an empty stomach first thing in the morning. The lemon stimulates the liver and gall bladder to flush, while the dandelion, watercress, and parsley in the V-8 juice jump start the colon. Garlic builds immunity and improves circulation.

  • Juice of one lemon
  • 1 cup V-8 juice
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 6-8 ice cubes

First blend the lemon and V-8 juices into the blender. Add garlic, olive oil, and cubes and pulse on high.

I don't have much time today, so I will stop here and continue with more delicious
smoothie recipes tomorrow...have a great day!
