Healing With Geranium

good morning Pictures, Images and Photos G'morning everyone.....As you may have noticed, or not, I did not write a post yesterday. I had to sleep deprive myself for a medical test, and afterward I was just too pooped...kinda like the guy on the left here...lol.

So amongst many apologies I start with today's post which is about Geranium oil. It (Geranium) is on of the most important essential oils, esteemed for it's fragrance and for its therapeutic action on both the body and mind.

~Peace~

Healing With Geranium Oil

The sweet floral scent of Geranium oil with its fruity and minty undertones makes it a fragrant addition to massage and bathing blends. It combines well with many oils, especially complementing the scents of Lavender, Bergamot, Neroli, Rose and Sandalwood.

The essential oil is distilled from the leaves and stems of the Geranium plant, which are harvested just before flowering to gain oil of maximum potency.

Geranium is a valuable oil for treating depression, anxiety and frustration. Its uplifting action helps to dispel fears, feelings of self-doubt and insecurity. The regulating action of Geranium also helps to ease menstrual problems. An excellent beauty aid, it balances sebum secretions, so can be used on both dry and oily skin.

Ingredients Of Geranium Oil

Geranium oil contains more than 250 different molecules. It is an "adaptogen" able to act as both sedative and stimulant, due to its high content of stimulating alcohols and relaxing esters. its balanced chemistry has a regulating effect on hormonal systems, and it also acts on the adrenal cortex to balance the nervous system. Geranium oil is one of the cheaper oils you can buy, and is readily available.

Alcohols~The alcohols Geraniol, Citronellol, and Linalool make up more than 50% of the oil. These have antiseptic, healing properties and also give the oil its sharp, top note smell.

Esters~Cooling, soothing esters make up 30% of Geranium oil and give it relaxing qualities.
