Understanding How Detoxing Helps Your Body

Although the cells in our bodies are cleverly designed to cleanse themselves, we often become overloaded with more toxins than we are able to get rid f and the system clogs up.

Lack of exercise, sedentary jobs, eating processed and refined foods, the consumption of alcohol, caffeine and nicotine. The modern western lifestyle puts a huge strain on the body.

On top of these factors is exposure to environmental factors such as air pollution and pesticides, all bringing toxicity into the system. If we temporarily remove or reduce as many of these factors as possible, the body's mechanisms for detoxifying are triggered into action.

The process of detox rejuvenates and  revitalizes the body. It cleanses  nd soothes the digestive system, stimulates organ and tissue function, restores vitality, promotes higher energy loss and improves the look and texture of your skin, resulting in a happier, healthier you.

Exactly What Are Toxins?

Toxins, including pesticides, herbicides and hormones and preservatives, enter the body as chemicals sprayed onto or added to foods, overloading your body with too much of one type of food can also be toxic.

Caffeine and the many poisonous chemicals found in cigarettes and alcohol also take a toll on the body. A buildup of toxins can make us feel mentally and physically low and leave us susceptible to infections such as colds. Symptoms include digestive complaints, dull skin and difficulty in concentrating.

When you to eliminate a large amount of toxins from the body, this inevitably has a detrimental effect on the efficient functioning for the organs, especially the liver and the immune system. The liver is the major organ of detoxification, breaking down harmful chemicals into forms that can be excreted

A detox diet can help enable this organ to function more efficiently.

Simple Tips For Detoxing Your Body

It makes since to limit the amount of toxins that you are exposed to, try to remember that prevention is always better than cure. A few simple changes to your lifestyle can make a significant difference.
  • Try to organic food wherever and whenever possible

  • Wash all fresh food thoroughly before use.

  • Use natural, organic beauty, personal care and household products

  • Stop smoking; avoid inhaling passive smoke

  • Avoid drugs including aspirin, ibuprofen

  • Reduce or eliminate alcohol consumption

Food That Aid In Detoxifying

In order for the body to get rid of toxins in the form of water-soluble waste (as urine or feces ) it's essential to follow a healthy "wholefood" diet. Wholefoods contain important substances such as vitamins minerals and enzymes needed for the body's natural cleansing process to function properly.

A balanced wholefood diet should be rich in fresh fruits and vegetables (including juice drinks) high-quality proteins, some probiotic foods such as live natural yogurt to maintain levels of good bacteria) and plenty of pulses and wholegrains.

Brown rice is a good wholegrain. it acts like a "pipe cleaner" gathering toxins as it passes through the digestive system expelling them as waste. Drinking plenty of water, 2 qts a day, helps flush out toxins and keep the body hydrated and working efficiently.

Daily Detox Drinks

Making and drinking fresh vegetable juices is beneficial to any detox plan. A larger proportion of the vitamins and minerals are absorbed by the body when they have been juiced because the fiber has been removed

The following ingredients are great for detox juices:

Carrots~Carrots are rich in beta-carotene, which produces vitamin A, an important antioxidant.

Apples~Apples are rich in vitamin c, which is great for the immune system.

Ginger~Ginger is thought to stimulate gastric juices and aid digestion.

Quick Cleansing Juice

Put the following ingredients into a juicer:

  • 2 Organic Apples
  • 2 Organic Carrots
  • Pinch of Finely Grated Fresh Ginger
Push the carrots and apples through the juicer, adding the ginger, to taste, at the end. Stir well and serve. Drink at breakfast time or as a snack.

To fully benefit from fresh juices, drink them as soon as they are made, as the vitamins they contain deteriorate rapidly.

Hot Lemon Water~To prepare this drink, simply add one slice of fresh lemon to a mug of hot water. This should be drunk first thing in the morning before breakfast, to "kick start" the liver, the body's central detoxing organ, into action.

The lemony zing has the benefit of refreshing your palate.

Lemon is renowned for its detoxifying properties. It is also a good source of the antioxidant vitamin c.

Dandelion Root Tea~Dandelion root is a good source of a substance called lecithin, which stimulates liver function.

Simmer, uncovered, 1 tbsp of chopped fresh dandelion root in 1 cup of water for about 30 minutes or until the liquid has reduced by a third.

Strain the tea and drink two to three times a day.

I love dandelion tea!
I like to mix nettle tea with it and add a wee bit of cream

Have a wonderful and thank you for your patience...
